Robert F. Tranbaugh, M., is the Physician-in-Chief for the Division of Cardiac Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Tranbaugh received his medical degree from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed both his residency trainings in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at the University of California in San Francisco, CA followed by a fellowship in trauma research at the National Institute of Health also at the University of California in San Francisco, CA.

Dr. Tranbaugh holds an academic appointment as an Associate Professor of Clinical Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is consistently named to the list of “Top Doctors” in various publications and has also been recognized by the US News & World Report as both a top doctor and one of the top 1% of all cardiac surgeons in the U.S. in 2012.
